Water is the foundation of any body, and without it, the body is going to suffer. With this being said, consider your daily life. Most people are under the assumption that as long as they are drinking something and their mouth is not dry that they are hydrated. Thus, many people can be seen constantly sipping on coffee or tea.   • Cushions and lubricates joints in the body
  • Regulates temperature within the body
  • Protects sensitive tissues in your body including your spinal cord
  • Helps to rid the body of waste through urine, perspiration or bowel movements

Those who do not get enough water often experience symptoms that are going to make them feel as though they are seriously ill. Dehydration is common among those who live in warmer climates and little access to clean water, however, just as many people are dehydrated due to simply not getting enough water. In many drinks that are considered an alternative to water, they contain sugar. Sugar is a diuretic that is not really giving your body the water it needs to function. According to Livestrong, sugar can dehydrate the body when this is in the body in high amounts. For example, a sports drink that is claiming to be better than water usually contains a lot of sugar. This can make your existing dehydration even worse in some people.

It is for this reason that water should be the main drink of choice for a person. They will find there are several sports drinks on the market, yet none of these are going to be as good for you as water.

Tips to Increase Water Intake

If you are serious about incorporating more water into your diet, consider these tips:

  • Always carry a bottle of water with you
  • Switch out one bottle of water with one other drink everyday
  • Constantly have water to sip on
  • Drink when you feel even the slightest bit of dryness in the mouth

Those who drink more water, are going to be healthier in the long run.
